6. Fruit Cake
Sunday, January 6th, 20085. Still Blooming
Saturday, January 5th, 2008
As I was posting this photo tonight, I asked if we had any poinsettia stories I could share. I learned that in my step-father’s family, his brother G. always buys a poinsettia for his mother. Then, my mom buys a poinsettia for her mother and herself. That’s it, that’s all they could tell me. Still, they’re pretty during the holidays (and into January).
4. The Last Cookie
Friday, January 4th, 2008Mom made over 24 different kinds of holiday cookies this year including date pinwheels, chocolate with carmel kisses, red & green sugar, chocolate chip with carmel, marshmallow, and milk chocolate topping, peanut butter balls, peanut butter, molasses, ginger creams, snickerdoodles, kolaches, maple creams, cut-outs (multiple shapes; however, my brothers and I all like the candy canes the best), peanut butter delights, almond with almond frosting, almond bars, snowballs, shortbread, molasses cream, butter riches, peanut blossoms, pecan tassies, chocolate crinkles, pumpkin pie, oreo balls, chocolate biscotti, english toffee biscotti, peanut clusters, peanut butter fudge, chocolate fudge, and chex mix.
br> Believe it or not, she cut down this year. br> br>She didn’t make the almond crisscross, lemon bars, cherry nut, chocolate cookie with chocolate frosting, andie’s mint, and thumbprints. br>So, technically, this is not the last cookie. It’s just one of the last ones we received from a neighbor. Mom still has others remaining in the freezer that will get used throughout the year.
