I rode my bike over to the Honda dealership this morning to get a state inspection. The last time I was there, I specifically told them, don’t let me forget to get it. Well, we did. All of us forgot. So today, I made a specical trip. It wasn’t so bad. The nice guys in the service department also tightened the bolts holding my windshield on and tightened the lights in my light bar. Everyone was so helpful considering they were getting ready for their grand opening celebration that started at noon.

I arrived a couple hours early so I didn’t get to see any friends or riding buddies at the dealership. However, later on in my ride, I did manage to see the tail end of one of the women’s riding groups here in DFW. For all of you who don’t ride, let me explain that it’s considered good form not to ride too close to another group without first asking permission to join their group. And since that’s a little hard to do when one is rolling down the road at 60 mph, I tried to hang back and keep enough space between their tailgunner and myself.
I rode west on 114 to 820 West to 20 West to Weatherford. I took FM 5 south to Airport Road. I just love this little stretch of road that Gerri showed me. There is wildflowers, horses, cattle, bridges, streams, and plenty of trees. It’s really beautiful.

Airport road dead ends at Rt 51. I took it south into Granbury. This town is filled with cute shops. I love browsing around, but there was no time to stop today except for gas. Rt 51 out of Granbury is WONDERFUL. Trees and twisties! Took 67 then 281 south to Hico, where I took FM6 south to Merdian where I picked up Rt. 22 east. I have to say, Rt 22 East from Merdian to Hillsboro is BEAUTIFUL. I will have to share this road with friends.

On the way home, I took Rt 35W into Ft. Worth. I think I waved at one of the friends I was hoping to run into at the dealership this morning. That’s the thing with bikers. Most of us will wave at all of the other bikers. It’s like a secret code. It makes me feel like part of a family. When I first started riding, I was so ticked to wave a other riders. Each time, I thought to myself, “why, they’re waving AT ME!!” Now the cutest people to wave at are little kids. They’ll peek out the car window and offer a timid wave. It’s so fun to smile and wave at them. They just love it. I hope I inspire some of the little girls to get their own bike someday.
