About Marcia Hansen

Marcia Hansen photo in colorm2h is Marcia M. Hansen.

I’m currently working at Allstate as a marketing manager responsible for social media projects.

Check out Allstate’s automotive blog: VehicleVibes.com. It’s really a hub of all of the social projects I’m currently managing — there are tips, quizzes, games, and videos. One of the projects I’m most proud of is our educational video series covering auto maintenance — e.g. How to Change a Flat Tire or How to Jumpstart your Battery.

Prior to working at Allstate, I completed my Master’s degree at the University of Missouri with an emphasis in rhetoric and composition. My thesis was on digital literacies, and my research and interests spanned network rhetorics, new media/digital composition, and how teachers and students can use social technologies for learning.

I’m passionate about new technologies, how people use them to communicate and share parts of their identities online, as well as how companies use social technologies to communicate with consumers.

Prior to finishing my MA, I managed e-mail marketing and web development for Southern Methodist University, was a project manager at Verizon.com, and even before that was one of five interns to design and develop GTE’s first integrated HR Intranet.

I enjoy: motorcycling, travel, and living each day with purpose.
I dislike: peas.
I aspire to: see and experience as much of the world as possible.
