digital content strategy, social media marketing, and seo expertise
We’re talking this morning at DMAC about what new literacy skills and understandings people are going to need outside of school in the next decade.
The things we’re talking about include:
mash-ups/remixing
where we turn for news will change
understanding expectations, reach and speed
merging of oral and spoken text
the ability to compose mentally will become more important as VCR tech becomes more popular as the transfer to text will become more aided by tecnology
the ability to code text, meta tags, etc. will become a higher level skill
Cindy Selfe gave an example of how this young boy’s best friends are those kids he games with online; whereas, the kids in his community are just those he goes places with and does things with like fishing, etc.
I think our notion of what is public discourse will expand as the ability to record audio and video becomes much more invisible.
More to come…

Hey, tell Scott DeWitt I said hi! And have a great time there. I used to teach in those labs (before they got all the cool stuff).
