I just called the Honda shop to make an appointment for a 24,000 mile service and for new tires. Of course, the 24k service requires most everything be checked, inspected, or replaced. I really didn’t want a $400 bill at this time. But, I so need to get out on the bike [...]
I managed to winterize my motorcycle this evening all by myself. Yea! C. did help by giving me the list of things to do:
1. Fill tank up with gas.
2. Leave bike running and turn fuel switch to off position.
3. Wait till it stalls. This was painful. It was like [...]
I need one of these!
What a brilliant invention. Wearing this helmet, I would be able to monitor my position with GPS, my rate of speed, and whether I have any indicator lights blinking from the built-in electronic heads-up display. The GPS feature would be nice, but coming from the gal whose nickname is [...]
This is so cool! This is the first that I’ve heard of motorcycle studies.
The International Journal of Motorcycle Studies (IJMS) has issued a call for papers. Its first issue will be published online in March 2005. From the call:
We welcome submissions on all areas related to the cultural phenomenon of motorcycling from [...]
“You ride that bike here all by yourself?”
I had pulled into a small town gas station somewhere in Texas to rest and refuel when the guy driving a black pickup truck approached me and asked such a stupid question.
My grinning reply, “you see anyone else ride in here with me?”
We talked for a bit. [...]
Women on Wheels is holding a 5-State rally for Women on Wheels in Hot Springs this weekend. I will join about 200 other women on motorcycles from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana for some riding fun. I’m so excited to get away from work for a few days and have some good times [...]
I rode my bike over to the Honda dealership this morning to get a state inspection. The last time I was there, I specifically told them, don’t let me forget to get it. Well, we did. All of us forgot. So today, I made a specical trip. It wasn’t so [...]
I’m off this morning on a bike trip to Burnet, Texas. I’ve learned that it sounds like Durn It, not Burrrnette. I am 1 of 8 women going and it should be a great time. We’re all on bikes and we’re going to look at bluebonnets and ride twisty and hilly back-country [...]
In this month’s O magazine, Oprah writes, “the essential question is not “how busy are you?” but “what are you busy at?” Are you doing something that fulfills you? ‘Someday’ is not the eighth day of the week” (37).
I was busy today taking care of some chores. I detailed my [...]
This looks to be a very good site. People have submitted routes they found enjoyable at this site: Motorcycle Roads.US. One of the down sides of this site is that it’s built in frames so I can’t link to a particular state.
