I have to say…

In: meta

If there is a mindfulness based stress reduction class at your uni, please take it. You’ll be so glad that you did.
Just the other day I was talking about being stressed and frustrated. However, last night was an exception. For the first time in a long time I have been able to [...]

5 more things

In: meta

I’ve had my head down working on a paper and so not blogging very much at all. The words are just not coming as fast as they need to. It’s all a jumble and I don’t know yet how the organization is going to come together. I can’t see it yet. [...]

Meditation Bells

In: meta

The instructor of the mindfulness class sent us a link to these timed mediation bells. They are timed recordings that begin and end with bells, which can be nicer than setting an alarm clock or traditional timer for meditation practice. See what you think~

Synchronicity

In: meta

I occasionally pull a random book off my shelf to see what it has to offer me in an instant. More often than not, I pull instant karma, by Barbara Ann Kipfer off the shelf. Today, I opened to page 224 and it says: “give back rubs without being asked.”
Oh my…talk about synchronicity: [...]

Noticing

In: meta

I’m taking a mindfulness class this semester. Last week one of the assignments was to notice one thing every day that brings us pleasure.
Ok now, don’t laugh, but I just had to tell you about this thing that made me happy:
I changed the color of highlight in my MAC preferences to gold. [...]

Productivity and Memory

In: meta

+Use timeboxing to get started or limit activity so tasks don’t expand. I’ve used this with some success over the past few days. The trick is consistent use.
+ Memory Master – you can memorize info with these techniques. I’m still working my way through the tutorials, but the first few have been [...]

Stressful Yoga

In: meta

I had an absolutely awful yoga session. I’m just disappointed by the whole second half of the class. There were several twisted triangle positions, as well as the dancer, warrior, hero, and a shoulder stand that just were too much for me today. I couldn’t even do the chest expansion because once [...]

1 List, 3 Things

In: meta

My version of the to do list meme: 1 list, 3 things.
The List
+ Write thesis – just get it done.
+ Purge my portfolio – make the time. I need to get my sites (apartment and website) in order….sell stuff on eBay and give other stuff away (all of the stuff that I’d [...]

Yummy

In: meta

I know it’s about time I post something serious, useful and productive, but I just can’t help myself from posting this girly recommendation.
L. sent me some body wash and lotion samples. I tried the Giovanni Raspberry Winter Body Butter. OMG. It smells so good I almost took a spoon to it. [...]

First Day Done

In: meta

School started today. Yes. No getting around it.
Mom sent me an email wishing me well! I loved getting it. If she was here, she’d take my picture, I know it!
I had to get up early to stand in line and get a parking garage pass. I felt sorry [...]
