I managed to winterize my motorcycle this evening all by myself. Yea! C. did help by giving me the list of things to do:
1. Fill tank up with gas.
2. Leave bike running and turn fuel switch to off position.
3. Wait till it stalls. This was painful. It was like waiting for it to take it’s last breath. And then to hear it choke and go silent — awful.
4. Add 1/4 bottle gas treatment to gas tank.
5. Disconnect battery and bring it in the house. This was the hardest physical part of the whole thing. When guys tighten these bolts their tight is tighter than my tight. I tried 3 different screwdrivers until finally I was able to loosen two of the screws with a wrench.
6. Wipe down and cover.
That’s it. I did it. I didn’t like doing it much. It means that riding season is over for me. Damn.
I wasn’t able to get a garage for it. The apartment complex where I’m at put me on a waiting list. I hope it is going to be ok. Hopefully here in Missouri it won’t get too too cold. C. tells me it’s hibernating now. I’d feel a little better if it had a warmer place to hibernate.
Ahh…but, the manual says store it in a cool nonheated place. It should be ok.
